Our public schools are at a crossroads. Good schools attract people and strengthen a community. We need to develop careers. Education, reducing barriers and fostering innovative business approaches are key

Foster quality public education for a better prepared future workforce

(Example: strengthen science, technology, engineering and mathematic curriculum to prepare our students for future workforce needs.)

Reduce barriers to employment

(Example:Expand technical skills taught at high school or post-secondary level so that we have a world-class workforce that is as essential in manufacturing as it is useful in developing innovative business practices.

Example: Explore more flexible approaches to certification for the trades industry)

Strengthen and promote economic development through Made-In-Maine manufacturing.

Meet Jennifer DeChant

Children  My husband and I are proud parents to two young boys.  Our eldest son, Isaac, is in the public system and his younger brother, Eric, will be there soon.  Our children – all children in Maine – must have access to the kind of public education that opens doors and provides as many future opportunities as possible.  Good schools attract good families, and that can strengthen our community.

Economic Development.  This means career development as well.  Education, reducing barriers to good jobs, and fostering innovative business approaches are key to healthy and sustainable development.  Bath is uniquely positioned as a real player in the emerging renewable energy industry, and has an active creative economy as well.  Proper leadership in Augusta can allow both sectors to thrive.
